About Matthew D. Newman

Attorney Matthew D. Newman joined Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith in 2015, concentrating in Personal Injury Law.

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Attorney Newman graduated from Connecticut College in 1979 and received his law degree from Quinnipiac College School of Law in 1985, where he was a member of the Law Review. Attorney Newman is admitted to practice in the state of Connecticut (1985), and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut (1986). Attorney Newman currently serves as a Special Master for the Superior Court, District of Bridgeport (2002–present) and District of Ansonia/Milford.

Attorney Newman’s community service includes appointments to the Town of Woodbridge Planning and Zoning Commission (1999-2001) and the Board of Directors of Temple Beth David, Cheshire (2006–present). Attorney Newman is a member of the Greater Bridgeport, Connecticut and American Bar Associations, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and was selected by the Connecticut Law Tribune as one of the "Dozen Who Made A Difference – 2009."

Attorney Newman represented Charla Nash in her claims against the owner of a chimpanzee and the State of Connecticut for catastrophic injuries she sustained as a result of an attack by the chimpanzee.
