2018 #IBDayofAction Events

DOA 2018 SM AviWith nearly 5.7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, this year’s IB Day of Action (#IBDayofAction) will focus on caring for those who once cared for us.

During the month of November, which is also National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, member firms will work collectively to help build awareness about this life-altering disease by teaming up with Alzheimer’s and memory care facilities across the U.S.

Check out what member firms are doing for the 5th Annual IB Day of Action:

Corporate member firm Advocate Capital, Inc. is working with Brookdale Belle Meade. The firm’s Team Hope will volunteer at the facility and host an arts and crafts day for the residents.

Atlee Hall, LLP is breaking up in teams to help two local facilities in Lancaster, PA. Each team will spend the day baking, arts and crafts, and some musical activities.

On Nov. 12, Barnes Trial Group plans to visit Whisper Oaks Health and Rehab Memory Care Unit for an ice cream social, as well as pass out craft poppies, which the firm made, to the residents. The firm is also hosting a donation drive and will deliver the donations during their visit.

Members of CaseyGerry plan to visit St. Paul’s Villa for a day of volunteering and an ice cream party.

Chaffin Luhana LLP split the firm’s efforts in two. The Pittsburgh office participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 13 and the New York office is also participating in a walk in November. The firm also raised more than $3,000. They have also launched a Alzheimer’s Awareness project. The project involved the entire firm where they interviewed more than a dozen members of the Alzheimer’s community including researchers, physicians, caregivers, counselors, and support group founders. The interviews will be posted on the firm’s Legal Examiner site throughout the month of November.

Claris Marketing is teaming up with Tampa-based IB firm Wagner McLaughlin to help give back to the residents at Royal Sun Park. On Nov. 8, they will spend the day volunteering and host lunch for the residents. They are also providing donations to the facility.

Atlanta-based member firm Childers, Schlueter & Smith, LLC is working with a local memory care facility by volunteering their time.

On Nov. 13, members from D’Amore Law Group will volunteer at the Mt. Hood ADC. They plan to spend the day planting, decorating for the holidays and painting the hallways.

The Farris, Riley & Pitt team is participating in the Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama’s Walking to Remember event.

Inserra Kelley Sewell is working with the Parsons House in Omaha, NE. The firm will help redo the outside courtyard area and plan to donate a special sculpture for the courtyard to help stimulate the mind and bring peace to residents. They also plan to spend the morning with the residents and participate in an activity.

For the second year in a row, members of Lewis, Feldman & Lehane, LLC plan to spend the day volunteering at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.

Rhode Island-based firm Mandell, Schwartz & Boisclair is working to help a local memory care facility for the firm’s IB Day of Action project.

McCallister Law Group, LLC is using the month of November to collect needed items such as sheets, towels, blankets, games and more for the Three Crowns Park in Evanston, IL. They will deliver the donations to the facility at the end of the month.

Members of McCoy, Hiestand & Smith plan to spend the day volunteering at Wingate Residences on the East Side. They are also providing needed donations to the facility.

Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow is working with a local memory care facility in Boston to help give back for their project.

Member firm Murray & Murray plans to participate in the Opening Minds through Art program at a local Alzheimer’s care facility in Sandusky, OH.

On Nov. 8, the O’Keeffe O’Brien Lyson Foss team will visit Bethany Homes for a day of volunteering and celebration. They also plan to do a second visit at the end of Nov. for a holiday arts and crafts project.

Members of Pogust & Millrood, LLC will be volunteering and participating in activities with residents at Norriton Square Nursing & Rehab Center.

Dallas-based firm Pope Taylor is volunteering at the Silverado Turtle Creek Memory Center on Nov. 14. They plan to spend time with the residents and participate in games of BINGO and a painting class.

On Nov. 3, tema members from Prince Glover & Hayes will participate the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Chicago-based firm Rapoport Law Offices is working with Brookdale Center in Burr Ridge. They plan to spend the day volunteering and participating in activities with the rehab and assisted living residents.

Sweeney Merrigan Law is working with Marion Manor, a non-profit nursing home in Boston. The staff is hosting a BINGO activity for the residents. They will help assist residents from their rooms to BINGO, play the games with them and spend some quality time with the residents.

The Law Offices of Thomas L. Young is joining Claris Marketing and Wagner McLaughlin to help support the residents at Royal Sun Park.

On Nov. 8, members from Ventrua Law will visit the Maplewood of Danbury facility. They plan to play BINGO with the residents, as well as have one-on-one sit downs with the residents to learn more about their life and experiences.

Wagner McLaughlin is giving back to the residents at Royal Sun Park in Tampa, FL. The firm sponsored donations for the facility, including new bedding for all of the residents, towels, fleece blankets and baby wipes. They also plan to help volunteer with the Claris Marketing team.

Honolulu-based firm Wayne Parsons Law Offices will be volunteering at a local memory care facility during the month of November.

Whitley Law Firm is hosting a donation drive that will benefit the Falls River Court care facility in Raleigh, NC. They are donating items such as blankets, scarves, and socks. The firm will deliver donations mid-November.

Orlando-based firm Wooten Kimbrough, P.A. is working with Memory Care Center at Brookdale. The firm plans to provide donations to the facility, as well as spend the day volunteering.
