For Injury Board member Terrell Hogan, the holidays are a very special time. Like so many of us, they see it as a joyous season of giving to be celebrated with family and friends—yet the Jacksonville, Florida law firm has taken things further by spreading the holiday spirit even farther.
Each year, the Terrell Hogan family puts together care packages that they send to young military men and women serving overseas who might not have a family connection they can count on for support. Originally began as a team-building exercise, it’s now a time-honored tradition for all those involved.
“The personal sacrifices made by our service men and women, in addition to their willingness to fight in defense of our Nation, merit our deepest respect,” said Terrell Hogan paralegal and co-organizer, Sarah Buckland. “I was honored to be a little part of sending our soldiers a taste of home and a bit of Christmas cheer this year.
What first started with the idea to send a single box to just one soldier, has now become a large-scale effort that includes boxes to every member of the platoon along with several overflow boxes that can be shared by all. Firm members work hard to fill each box with snacks, toiletries, candy, books and magazines for the troops. They even include a personalized ornament with the troop members’ names along with numerous letters and cards from many at the firm. As in years past, the care packages are then sent to an Army platoon serving in Afghanistan.
“It’s a privilege to show our troops some holiday spirit,” said firm paralegal and co-organizer, Cynthia Ali. “Our office did an amazing job supporting our military for the holidays, and I am honored to be part of it.”
