What’s the best part about being a trial lawyer?

MB: I enjoy being in front of the jury. I am always looking for ways to improve my practice and deliver the best possible service for my clients.

Like other IB members, you’re very involved in your local community. Can you tell us a little bit about your firm’s community involvement and why it is important for trial lawyers?

MB: Community service is an integral part of what we do here at The Injury Board. I believe it is key in our profession and separates the good trial lawyers from the great ones. Our firm tries to give back to the community whenever we can. We offer drunk driving rides the first two weeks of the new year so that people can get home safety from bars. This has become an annual tradition and is, simply, the right thing to do. We have also held many bicycle helmet giveaways in the past.

What do you think is the future of the courtroom? How will technology be a factor?

MB: My fear is that technology will singlehandedly eliminate the jury trial. However, I do believe we will see a lot more testimony by video. Who knows, someday we might even be able try a case across the country while sitting in sunny Florida.

Congrats on winning the first annual March Madness #IBBracketChallenge. Can you tell us about the charities to which you have decided to donate your winnings?

MB: We decided to split the donation to help support two organizations: Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) and the BishopAccountability.org project. Both organizations do great work and help survivors who have been abused by priests. They go way beyond themselves and are terrific organizations. We are happy to be able to contribute.

What are your biggest takeaways from your IB membership thus far? Will you be joining us at ROI2015 in Denver?

MB: I am scheduled to attend ROI this year and I look forward to it. My biggest takeaway from IB is that you are dealing with the elite trial lawyers in the country. The Injury Board is a great opportunity to be around the professionals that are the best at what they do. Our firm takes advantage of all that IB has to offer and have benefited from excellent relationships and referrals.
