Jax Firm Helps Support Special Olympics

Steve Watrel P.A., along with other local businesses, joined together for the Color Me Rad 5k, which benefited the Special Olympics of Duval County, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition.

The Color Me Rad 5k is a non-competitive community color run that is loosely based on the Hindu Festival of Colors, otherwise known as Holi. The festive colors used are a sign of winter’s end and spring’s new beginnings. Or in the case of RAD; the color represents the end of lame runs and the beginning of fun runs.

During the race, runners — including Watrel’s wife and 7-year-old and friends — are “bombed” with bright neon colors throughout the course.

“Not only is it fun turning different colors, but the run raises money for the specific charities, here Special Olympics,” says Watrel. “Everybody had a great time.”

The firm has been sponsoring and volunteering with the Special Olympics for more than nine years and also regularly supports several other community organizations, including The Boselli Foundation and the Nourishment Network Food Bank.
