#IBDayofAction Events – Check Out What IB Firms Are Doing to Support Vets

IB_DoAThe IB Day of Action is finally here and we are excited to share with you what member firms across the country are doing to help support our nation’s veterans.

To keep you updated on all things #IBDayofAction, we’ve created a detailed list of what each firm is doing for their Day of Action this week and next.

Here’s the complete list of the IB Day of Action event breakdown:

Monday, Nov. 3

The Metier Law Firm teamed up with Law Tigers and local motorcycle shops to raise funds to donate grocery cards to homeless veterans in Denver. On Monday, Nov. 3, the firm joined local radio personalities Rick Lewis and Kathy Lee from 103.5 The Fox morning show to deliver the donations.

Wednesday, Nov. 5

Close to 15 members of Meehan, Boyle, Black & Bogdanow, PC volunteered their time at the Boston VA Medical Center. They visited with the veterans, handed out thank you cards and a small comfort item. To see more photos from their event, visit the Injury Board Facebook page.

Thursday, Nov. 6

Burns, Cunningham & Mackey, PC is sponsoring a luncheon for patients at the Mobile VA Outpatient Center. Five firm members and Danny Feldman of Lewis, Feldman & Lehane will volunteer their time to assist in feeding more than 50 patients for the event.

San Diego-based member firm Casey Gerry plans to do a group visit the afternoon of Nov. 6. During their time at the San Diego VA Medical Center, firm members will hand out comfort care items to the patients and visit with them.

Chaffin Luhana, LLP is splitting up the firm’s efforts and help two VA facilities. The Chaffin Luhana Foundation is sponsoring donations to help veterans in need. Firm members in the West Virginia office and Pittsburgh office will deliver the donations to the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center and firm members in the New York office will deliver the donations to the New York VA Medical Center.

Members of Curcio Law plan to volunteer their time at the Washington, D.C. VA Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 6. During their visit, the firm will help to record veterans’ stories for the Veterans History Project. The firm is also make a financial donation, which will go toward an event in late November that is dedicated to helping homeless veterans.

D’Amore Law Group is donating more than $1,000 worth of winter clothing to the Portland VA Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 6. The donations will go towards helping veterans in need and homeless veterans.

Members of Fick & May will volunteer at the Loch Raven VA Community Living & Rehabilitation Center in Baltimore. While there, they will visit with patients and pass out thank you cards and comfort care items that they have collected for donations.

Starting Thursday, Nov. 6, IB corp. member firm Garretson Resolution Group will be collecting items to donate to the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. They plan to collect personal hygiene products, winter clothing and business attire for veterans looking for employment.

Graham Law Firm, PA will volunteer at the Charleston VA Medical Center’s Community Living Center on Thursday, Nov. 6. They plan to host an afternoon of activities and volunteering. During their visit, they will sponsor a game for the veterans, award prizes and giveaways, and host a mid-afternoon snack of variously flavored chicken wings.

Members of the Greaney Law Firm will be preparing a meal for the VA Puget Sound Fisher House—a “home away from home” for the families of veterans and active duty military who are hospitalized.

The evening of Thursday, Nov. 6, Kennelly O’Keeffe will volunteer at the Red River Valley Concert at the Fargo VA Hospital. The firm is assisting with the concert and surrounding activities, including providing refreshments and food for the event.

Member firms Lewis, Feldman & Lehane, LLC and Farris, Riley & Pitt, LLP will be visiting the Birmingham VA Medical Center to participate in an onsite volunteer project with the center’s Blind Rehabilitation patients. They will host BINGO games, award prizes and giveaways, and also provide afternoon snacks.

Also, firm member Danny Feldman will join fellow IB member firm Burns, Cunningham & Mackey in volunteering time at the Mobile Outpatient Center. They will be hosting a lunch for the center’s outpatients on Thursday, Nov. 6.

Marc Whitehead & Associates will donate 200 Guiltless Giving personal hygiene kits to veterans in need at the Houston VA Medical Center.

Louisville-based member firm McCoy & Hiestand, PLC is hosting a pizza party for the patients in the Substance Abuse Treatment Center at the Louisville VA facility on Thursday, Nov. 6. They will have at least four firm employees volunteering for the event.

Members from Tapella & Eberspacher, LLC will volunteer at two VA facilities. They plan to visit the St. Louis VA Medical Center and the Danville, Ill. VA Medical Center.

TorHoerman Law, LLC plans to split the firm’s efforts and help two VA facilities. On Thursday, Nov. 6, 20+ volunteers of the Edwardsville, Ill., office will visit the St. Louis VA Medical Center and 9 people from the Chicago office will visit the Chicago VA Medical Center. The attorneys and staff will participate in an onsite volunteer activity at each facility. They also plan to donate 100 personal care kits to veterans in need. The kits include clothing and personal hygiene products.

Friday, Nov. 7

IB corp. member firm Shea Barclay Group will join The Law Office of Thomas L. Young, P.A. and the IB staff on Friday, Nov. 7 in volunteering at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center’s Community Living Center. They will be hosting a “Root Beer Float” party along with an activity. The firm is also donating gift cards for local restaurants and stores to the residents.

IB member Mike McLaughlin of Wagner, Vaughan & McLaughlin is donating new sweatpants and zip sweaters to the Tampa VA Hospital.

Tampa-based member firm Wagner, Vaughan & McLaughlin is donating sweatpants and zip-up sweatshirts to all of the veterans residing in the James A. Haley VA Medical Center’s Community Living Center. The firm is also donating a new set of poker game playing chips.

Honolulu-based member firm Wayne Parsons Law Offices will be participating in two onsite volunteer activities. On Friday, Nov. 7, the firm will be placing Medal of Honor flags on gravesites of veterans who hold the Honor at the Punchbowl Cemetery and they will also host a social/game hour for the inpatients at the Honolulu VA Medical Center.

Monday, Nov. 10

Corp. IB member firm Lawsuit Financial Corp. will volunteer its time during a ceremony that the Detroit VA Medical Center is hosting for veterans. The firm will assist in escorting the patients to and from the ceremony and assist during the ceremony. They will also be donating 100 Guiltless Giving personal hygiene kits to the facility to provide to homeless veterans.

Team members from McKeen & Associates are collecting items to donate to veterans in need at the Detroit VA Medical Center. The firm will also volunteer their time during a ceremony that the facility hosting for the veterans. They will assist in escorting the patients to and from the ceremony and assist during the ceremony.

Corp. IB member firm Milestone Consulting, LLC is sponsoring a surprise pre-Veteran’s Day pizza party for the veterans at the 10 D Ward VA Facility at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. The firm is also collecting items to donate to the facility.

From Nov.3-7, O’Connell & Aronowitz is collecting needed items at their office for the Homeless Veterans Program at the Albany Stratton VA Hospital. They will visit the hospital on Monday, Nov. 10 to deliver the donated items.

O’Malley & Langan will visit the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center to help the center’s homeless program. The firm will volunteer at the St. Francis Commons, a veterans transitional living facility in Scranton, PA. During their visit, they will provide lunch, hair cuts, dinner and a few other activities for the veterans. The firm is also collecting items to donate to the veterans as well.

Connecticut-based IB firmVentura, Ribeiro & Smith is collecting items to donate to veterans in need. The firm will deliver the donations to the Danbury VA Outpatient Center on Monday, Nov. 10, which is also during the facilities annual Marine Corp Birthday Celebration.

Tuesday, Nov. 11

Atlee Hall, LLP will have more than 15 employees volunteering at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. They are sponsoring several BINGO parties for the inpatients at the facility and providing refreshments and snacks for the event.

Members from Saunders & Walker will be volunteering their time and efforts to help support veterans at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center.

Thursday, Nov. 13

Childers, Schlueter & Smith, LLC will sponsor an annual dinner that the Atlanta VA Medical Center hosts for veterans each year in honor of Veteran’s Day.

MichieHamlett is donating 500 Guiltless Giving personal hygiene kits to the Charlottesville (Va.) VA Outpatient Center to help local veterans in need.

Friday, Nov. 21

Phelan Petty, PLC is donating 500 Guiltless Giving personal hygiene kits to the Richmond (Va.) VA Medical Center to provide to homeless veterans or veterans at risk of becoming homeless. The firm is also participating in an onsite service project at the facility.

The Marshall Law Firm plans to collect items and donate them to the Bay Pines VA Medical Center’s HUD-VASH program which serves veterans in the homeless program. The items include household supplies—cleaning items, bath towels, dishes/cups, silverware, laundry soap, dishwashing soap, pots/pans, and much more.

Whaley Law Firm is working with the Baton Rouge VA Outpatient Center to donate bus passes for veterans in need of assistance to and from their appointments.
