IB Firms Join Together to Help Nation’s Veterans During IB Day of Action

IB_DoAAs November approaches, we are excited to help support our nation’s veterans during the first-ever Injury Board Day of Action, a collaborative effort between our member firms, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Guiltless Giving.

The IB Day of Action (#IBDayofAction), scheduled for the first week in November, is a nationwide community outreach effort hosted by The Injury Board to bring together plantiffs’ firms from across the U.S.—all working for the same cause on the same day.

“We are passionate about helping Injury Board members give back to their communities; it’s part of the DNA of our organization,” says Tom Young, attorney-at-law and co-founder of The Injury Board. “We are extremely proud to bring our members together for this day of action. To make even the smallest difference is better than making no difference at all.”

During the IB Day of Action, member firms will work to show support to veterans in our members’ local communities by providing personal hygiene kits and other needed items, as well as volunteering their time.

Here’s what some members are doing for their Day of Action:

Members of Greaney Law Firm, PLLC in Kent, Wash., will be preparing a meal for the VA Puget Sound Fisher House—a “home away from home” for the families of veterans and active duty military who are hospitalized.

Phelan Petty, PLC is donating 500 Guiltless Giving personal hygiene kits to the Richmond (Va.) VA Medical Center to provide to homeless veterans or veterans at risk of becoming homeless. The firm is also participating in an onsite service project at the facility.

Denver-based firm Metier Law has teamed up with local motorcycle shops to help support homeless veterans and disadvantaged veterans in Colorado by donating grocery cards to the Denver VA Medical Center’s homeless veterans program.

Member firms Farris, Riley & Pitt, LLP and Lewis, Feldman & Lehane, LLC will be visiting the Birmingham VA Medical Center to participate in an onsite volunteer project with the center’s Blind Rehabilitation patients.

On Monday, Nov. 10, Milestone Consulting, LLC is hosting a Buffalo Bills’ football party for the veterans residing in the Buffalo VA Medical Center’s Community Living Center. The firm is also collecting items to donate to the facility.

Honolulu-based member firm Wayne Parsons Law Offices will be participating in two onsite volunteer activities. On Friday, Nov. 7, the firm will be placing Medal of Honor flags on gravesites of veterans who hold the Honor at the Punchbowl Cemetery and they will also host a social/game hour for the inpatients at the Honolulu VA Medical Center.

TorHoerman Law, LLC plans to split the firm’s efforts and help two VA facilities. On Thursday, Nov. 6, the Edwardsville, Ill., office will visit the St. Louis VA Medical Center and members of the Chicago office will visit the Chicago VA Medical Center. The attorneys and staff will participate in an onsite volunteer activity at each facility.

With more than 40 firms representing 40 major cities across the U.S. participating in the IB Day of Action, the event is turning out to be a huge success.
