IB member firm O’Connell and Aronowitz was recently honored for its commitment to promoting safety and protecting the community.
With the help of managing partner Pamela Nichols, the firm was named a recipient of the ‘GOBY Heart of Business Award’ by The Stakeholders, Inc. an Albany nonprofit committed to community service and civic engagement.
The GOBY (Get on Board Volunteer) award recognizes companies, organizations and individuals who have provided exemplary volunteer services in New York’s Capital Region.
Nichols’ inspired leadership for her effort in distracted driving prevention earned this recognition. The program, developed by 60 for Safety (an Injury Board project) for EndDD.org, was spearheaded by Nichols and implemented by eight volunteer attorneys of O’Connell and Aronowitz. Under what was to be a month-long effort to commemorate National Distracted Driving Month in April 2012, turned into a three-year mission for Nichols.
Overall, the firm has presented on distracted driving prevention to 15 counties across New York to an audience of more than 7,000 high school students.
