IB member William Tapella of Tapella & Eberspacher recently showed off his culinary skills during a local children’s fundraising event in Illinois.
Tapella was asked to be a guest chef at the sixth annual “Men Who Cook” fundraiser in Charleston, which helps support the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center, which protects the children of Will County, Ill., who have been sexually or physically abused..
During the event, 50 local amateur cooks created home-cooked dishes that were judged by the public. More than 150 guests participated in the judging. Each guest voted for their favorite in each of four categories: appetizer, side dish, entrée and dessert.
To participate in the event, guests had to purchase tickets; all proceeds benefited the center.
“The Children’s Advocacy Center is a unique center for helping kids who are facing the worst of all circumstances—sexual abuse,” explained Tapella. “Among the services the center offers is a state-of-the-art facility in which children can be interviewed by trained professionals and law enforcement about the abuse and the abuser.”
Tapella, who is deeply involved in his local community, has supported the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center for a number of years with pro bono services and financial support.
