Jacksonville Member Honored by City for Community Safety Efforts

During an end-of-summer celebration, IB member Wayne Hogan was recognized by Mayor Alvin Brown for his substantial financial commitment to the Summer Night Lights (SNL) initiative for the youth of Jacksonville.

Hogan of Terrell Hogan Law Firm, donated $35,000 to SNL, funding four programs that served 500 kids. It also allowed JaxParks to offer several new teen-based programs aimed at providing career experience, team-building activities, dance and mentoring programs.

Agency partner in the SNL initiative and local Sheriff John Rutherford also commended Hogan’s efforts.

“As a longstanding partner in public safety, I would like to thank Wayne Hogan for stepping up and personally ensuring that this important crime prevention program occurred this summer,” Rutherford said.

The SNL initiative is a youth anti-crime, anti-violence initiative that provides safe places and life-enhancing experiences for youth ages 13-21. Each summer, SNL operates a select Jacksonville parks for eight weeks on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight. All activities are free.

This is the fourth year for SNL and this year’s program hosted six locations. There were approx. 17,000 visits to SNL sites this summer.
