A Closer Look: The Anapol Schwartz Foundation

Did you know that, for the past five years, Injury Board member Anapol Schwartz has been assisting various nonprofits with funds research and programs aimed at advancing health and safety?

Established in 2008 as a Donor Advised Fund at the National Philanthropic Trust (NPT), the Anapol Schwartz Foundation was formed as a way for the firm to give back to the community by using some of its proceeds from successful cases.

“The foundation is a natural extension of our dedication to championing victims’ rights,” said Joel Feldman, managing partner at the Philadelphia-based firm.

Over the years, from the success of cases, the foundation has donated to nonprofits and individuals suffering from spinal injuries, burns, amputees, rehabilitation and therapy.

In fact, in August 2012, the foundation presented physical therapist Curry Durborow with its third annual Anapol Advocate Award at Brun Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital in Malvern, Pa., for her commitment to raising awareness about brain injuries.

Holding a specialized certificate in locomotor training at the facility, Durborow has long assisted patients with recovery. She has participated in TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) research and education projects, and presented those projects to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

In addition to awarding Durborow, the foundation also presented the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania with a $5,000 grant on her behalf.
